Brooks founded Hickory Ridge Kennels in 1979 in Spokane Washington. As a field trial competitor for over 3 decades, Brooks had one desire on his bucket list - to own a National Champion. He never expected a two time National Champion.
BDK's Chloe Jax of all Trades (Trey) was the last pick in a litter of pups. Robbi became the owner and when she went to sell him, it seemed nobody wanted this little guy. Brooks liked him and purchased Trey from Robbi, but Trey didn't go far. When it was time for training to begin, he went back to the Blue Dawn Kennels, where our other dogs were trained, and the only folks we entrust our dogs to.
Both Robbi and Keith are responsible for helping make Trey the champion dog he is today, with two wins and one runner-up as a National Champion. We are very proud of Trey, and when not in training he is inside with us, part of the family; often taking over a recliner or sofa.
Trey's son Jax is turning out to be just like his papa, with all the ear markings of future National Champion. We look forward to our continued relationship with the Gulledges as Trey continues his career under their tutelage, and Jax starts a new chapter in our adventure.
Brooks continues to support the sport of field trialing and is a Board member of the NGSPA, and member of the GSPCA, and Missouri Valley Brittany Club. With his expertise in the sport he is also a sought after judge for field trialing covering many breeds.
And me? I'm the Secretary for the NGSPA and try to attend as many field trials as I can...until I retire, then I'll be at most all of them! I'm very proud of Brooks, all he has done with our dogs, and all he will continue to do.
